Happy Friday friends! I've had a cray-tastic work week and the beat is still going. I promise I am endeavoring to find a good blog rhythm. But, because I love it so much, I couldn't pass on the Newsflash this week!

1. I can never pass up these kinds of stories.... coffee could cut your skin cancer risk.

They did science on 112,000 people. Over a 20-year period, 25% of them developed basal cell carcinoma - skin cancer. They found that the participants who drank coffee (2 cups or more a day), were much less likely to be in that group of cancer people.  Caffeine is the key element in this finding. So, friends, it's Friday morning. I'm guzzling down the coffees. It's all about cancer prevention. All about it. Also, if I ever decide to go in a tanning bed, I'm just going to Britney Spears out and bring a giant Frappucino in there with me. ...I'm actually a little excited about that.

2. This man has 15 different Miley Cyrus tattoos:

Yep, 15 separate (and permanent) homages to Miley on his body. Don't ever tell me you're having a bad day. Presumably, he's going to snap out of this and realize what he's done. Now, that's a bad day.

3. More bad-choices-validation science! Eat fatty salad dressings!

According to science, you need to eat fat-based salad dressings to get the most nutrients out of the vegetables. The right combination of vegetables and fatty stuff helped people digest the most of the good things in the veggies. Salad with fat-free dressing is lower in calories, but the absence of fat causes the loss of some of the benefits of eating vegetables. I'm sure there are more details to know, but I'm writing thick and chunky bleu cheese dressing on my grocery list right now. It's the best.

4. Quote of the week:
"I eat cupcakes and I don't work out. But if you ask me in 10 years, I'm going to regret answering that way now. I don't even drink water. It's terrible." -- "unhealthy" person, Blake Lively
I call B.S. Give me a break. That body has spent some time fasting and on the elliptical. Let's be real here for a second. I hate reading stuff like this. It makes the rest of us spinning/running/dieting our buns off just feel like idiots, right? What a B.

5. Mermaids aren't real. Smart ocean people recently did an official study on this and determined there's no evidence to support that mermaids have ever existed.  Some show on Animal Planet explores whether or not there is a kernel of truth to the myth. The answer is no. No signs of "aquatic humanoids" have ever been found. Womp, womp. Science can be such a jerk. Why can't they let us dream. Whatever, SPLASH FOREVER!

6. Watch this weird European (I think) commercial:

Yes, it is an animated representation of feminine odor. WHAT THE HELL? While it's actually a pretty tasteful way to discuss smelly vaginas, who conceived of it? Like who sat down and had to brainstorm how to make Pixar-style lady funk? Idk, but I might need that job.

Well, that's all folks. This weekend I'm bopping down to my home in Houston to celebrate a belated father's day and spend some time with the parentals. Excited to go home and relax. Have a wonderful weekend!

Wonderful America Day

Today, as I'm battling the grogginess and haze that comes with a mid-week America-themed bender, I'm feeling extra thankful for all my fabulous friends.

Yesterday I had a relaxing afternoon of pool and grilling, followed by a glorious evening fireworks show in downtown Austin. Hot dogs and pie were consumed. MMMMM. I'm a lucky little lady to be American and surrounded by so many other great Americans. Here's a little photo recap..

Ladies at the pool, minus one

...things might have started to get a little rowdy. It's America day, what do you expect?

Fireworks friends!

One little poodle is terrified.

Full moon. Oh, also, lots of sass.

...just a girl and her dog... and a flag for a cape.

God bless America. And capes.

June Photo a Day

Happy July all! I'm back in action this week and have lots of pics to share from June Photo a Day Challenge. In June I struggled to get things done on time. I'm going to do better for July. I like this little task. It gives me something to think about every day and I believe it hones my creative-ish eye. Without further adieu...

1 - Morning: Fridays I allow myself to watch the Today show while my brain warms up for the day. Love Fridays.
2 - Empty: Oops, those might have been filled with beer. I didn't do that damage alone, though.
3 - On Your Plate: Asiany Lo Mein meal. #nothealthy
4 - Close Up: That's the little nugget, she's got gorge eyes.

5 - Sign: I actually disagree. A sunny tropical day is not when I want a Guinness. I almost never want one.
6 - Hat: It was the end of the day, I was panicking. Let's call it a "fascinator".
7 - Drink: Summer. Beer.
8 - Six O'Clock: The view from my front door in the late afternoon. I love those trees.

9 - Your View Today: The Head and the Heart concert. Super fun!
10 - Best Bit of Your Weekend: Getting to play with my friend's fresh new puppy, Archibald.
11 - Door: My sweet baby pups waiting patiently to come inside.
12 - From a Low Angle: Just look at that face.

13 - Art:  June's art from my from my favorite Paper Source wall calendar
14 - Time:  An old theater in downtown Birmingham, AL. They were showing Gone With the Wind. Presh.
15 - Yellow: All fire hydrants in Alabama are painted like this. Weird.
16 - Out and About: Main strip in Homewood, AL. Cute boutiques and cafes. Loved.

17 - In Your Bag: Wallet, camera, shades, keys, makeup bag, Chapstick and gum. Pretty basic stuff.
18 - Something We Don't Know About You: I collect antique poodles! Yes, a little strange.
19 - Imperfect: My closet. I really need an organization system. REALLY need one.
20 - Fave Photo You've Ever Taken: Black lava rocks in Hawaii. My favorite place we went on our trip.

21 - Where You Slept: I love my bed. LOVE it.
22 - From a High Angle: Little sillyputty baby. He'll definitely cuddle on you.
23 - Movement: Archibald discovering under the bed!
24 - On Your Mind: Fave quote. I keep it hung over my computer screen.

25 - Something Cute: I'm spoiled. Some sweet person gives me flowers way too much.
26 - Where You Shop: Fancy convenience store where I often stop for snacks and wine.
27 - Bathroom: Speaking of an organization system, that counter top is a wreck.
28 - On the Shelf: I may or may not have a favorite nail polish brand.

29 - Soft: Post haircut, this little Prince is wiped out and on a mountain of pillows.
30 - A Friend: A bestie. I'm lucky to have her (and many others) in town.

Good month of photos, I think. I'm doing it again in July! Follow me on Instagram (@caseylhenry) to see my updates each day!

Tagged

I got tagged yesterday by Christina at Christina's Pop Life. She's a wonderful and favorite blog friend! Go read her stuff, pronto! I’m supposed to share some random things about myself and then answer some questions. Here we go!

(I'm so bad at thinking of random things...)

I'm a big dork for history museums. Seriously, I could get lost looking at dinosaur skeletons and the like for the rest of my life. I'm craving hitting up the new dinosaur exhibit the Natural Science Museum in Houston. Soon.

TV/Movies about the ocean make me fall asleep. I've fallen into a deep coma watching two different ocean-themed IMAX movies, several watery episodes of Planet Earth and even Finding Nemo (in the theater!). And its almost instantaneous. It's so, so weird. Even walking around an aquarium makes me nod off a bit. I think its because I had a fish tank in my room as a baby that I used as a night light. It's the weirdest thing.

I'm terrified as crap of snakes. Like I can't even be in the room with one in a cage. I get tingles (not good ones) down my spine and my whole body get like red and weird. My psychologist mother claims its an evolutionary mental block dating back to the days when humans had to be afraid of them. Not a bad theory, but I think it's just because they're slimy and gross. They don't have legs. How can you trust a thing with no legs?

And the questions:

1. What is your profession? Communications Consultant. It's  rare treat that I'm actually using my Journalism degree to do real writing at age 26. #countingmyblessings

2. How would you describe your style? Casual. Extremely casual. Jorts and TOMS are my current uniform.

3. What one make-up product can you not live without? Stila Waterpoof Eyeliner in Purple Tang:

I have bad eye allergies and the wateryness effs with my eye makeup bigtime. Not this little diddy though. Also, a deep purple color complements my light eyes without looking too streetwalkerish like black eyeliners do.

4. If you could be besties with one celebrity, who would it be? Who are we kidding here? BEYONCE. She's independent, fierce and mercilessly badass.

5. What is your dream vacation? Italy. Food, wine, scenery, history galore. What more could there be?

6. What magazines do you subscribe to? The only one I currently subscribe to is Texas Monthly. I'm kind of a big nerd for the food reviews and adventures in the mag...

7. If you could have any special talent {that you don't currently have}, what would it be? Playing a musical instrument. I'm abysmal at music. I should have stayed in piano lessons like my mom told me too. Oops. Heck, this could be me:

8. What is your favorite breakfast food? Any and all, but I'd probably have to go bagel and cream cheese. Simple, decadent (for me) and freaking delish. Luckly I don't have access to my favorite bagels...

...very close to me. I have to really want it to drive over to it.

9. If you could do anything, what is your dream job? Cliche, I know, but probably blogger. You'd never know it by my recent lack of posts, though... I'm working on it.

10. What is your guilty pleasure? Shitty television. Favorite? Toddlers and Tiaras:

...except honestly I'm not guilty in the least.

Welp, thanks a ton Christina, you're a real pal!

Cullen Family - CAN'T WAIT

I came across these delicious new previews of Breaking Dawn: Part 2 last week. For the last few days I've been trying to resist every urge in my body to blog about them. I'm really trying to freshen things up here at Poodleism, but who am I kidding? I just can't resist.

These new photos have emerged:

Um hai. Could that kid be a little more flawless?

Weird.

She has so little motherly instinct that it's uncomfortable.

"We're the four best friends that anyone could have!"

Oh, hey there Kellen Lutz's arm, I've missed you.

There's also a new teaser trailer!

I'm nerding out here alot. My synapses don't know what to do. Smile? Squeal? Both at once?

I think this calls for a movie marathon this weekend. Can't wait!

50 Shades of Gray in .GIFs

I've finally done it. I'm on the 50 Shades of Gray bandwagon. Bigtime. I started it this weekend on my trip (sidenote: don't start a semi porn book while on your first trip to your BF's family home. Too many thoughts).

I honestly don't know where to start. There are so many things. I'm on a bit of a .GIF kick, so I'll tell you about my reactions via this genius digital medium...

I didn't expect it to be as hardcore on the sex stuff as it is. When he took her to his special play room:

I've read most of it in crowded places so far. This makes me feel tense. It's like people know I'm reading about nipple clamps. Secret dangerous flirty feeling:

Then I just get amazingly addicted. Like can't look away. Why does it have this affect on me?

It shocks me every time when she even considers not giving him what he wants...

Take home point:  If sweet innocent Ana Steele can seduce him... we all can be seductresses. We're all smokin' hot women deep down somewhere. This is how I imaging my inner goddess:

Generally, the plot twists are good and it's a really great character study. I more than approve.

The best news? THERE ARE TWO MORE BOOKS:

Tell me you aren't sick of the .GIFs. I might be just getting started...

The Bachelorette 8

I've been waiting to do a little postaroo on this season of the Bachelorette because honestly, I have too many thoughts. I have to wait until there are only a few people left. You're welcome.

But first, I have a big girl crush on Emily Maynard. Not only is she just ridiculously smokin' hot:

...she seems pretty down to earth, grounded and knows what she wants. Despite the absurd fairy tale that is being on the show, she mostly exists in the real world... I think:

I love her. More than is healthy.

As for the men, where do I start? Here's who's left and my thoughts..

Arie
I think he's a major frontrunner, my current pick for the last man standing. He seems nice and genuinely interested in her happiness. No complaints here (a very rare thing).

Chris
I don't think he's her soulmate. She seems pretty smitten with him though. She called him out as one of the cutest on the very first night. I think he's sweet, but a little awkward... and not a Southerner, which is something I think she needs.

Doug
I'm not into him. I think he comes in too hot with the "I'm a mature single father" shtick. His only defense is that he has big muscles and a kid. Kind of a big dumb animal I think.

Jef
Swoon city. He's by far my favorite, but I don't think her perfect match. He's too hipster and awesome for her. He has too good of taste and is way too good of a skateboarder. Again... swoon city.

John
Boring. Nothing to say except, what in the hell is a "Data Deconstruction Specialist"? He is cute though.

Sean
Cute. Nice. Her friends loved him. A Texan. I'm rooting for this one.

This season has been packed with twists. Last night she sent home 2 people and then just opted out of a rose ceremony altogether. Cah-RAZY! I'm freaking psyched for more. Next week they'll be in Prague!

What are you internet friends thinking of the season so far? Tell me you aren't above the Bachelorette? If you're reading this blog, I know you aren't.
